A No Snow day!
There was a possibility of Spring snow predicted today. I am happy to report that Delaware is most likely in the NO SNOW zone! I am so tired of winter weather. Joe and I have been planning our summer vacation in Maine. Now, this will be in July so I am dreaming of warmer days and cool Maine evenings. I decided that I need a cotton or linen sweater.
I knit a swatch of linen yarn. I washed and blocked it. It was draped well. I looked at the label and the yarn is suppose to be machine washed and flat dried. I like the idea of machine washing linen yarn because it will make the yarn softer. I threw the swatch in the washing machine. I need to let it completely dry and then I will wash it again. I really want to see how it responds to the washing machine before I measure my stitch gauge.
This is the sweater that I want to knit with the linen yarn. It is called Reservior by Amy Herzog. This pattern is a Custom Knit pattern. I love that I can knit my own gauge swatch with my own yarn for this sweater. After knitting and washing my swatch, I measure my stitch gauge and row gauge. I will give this information to my local yarn shop owner, Mrya at The Woolbearers who will input it in her computer. Then presto! BAM! A pattern will be printed to fit just me with my yarn.

As I am still in the planning stages with this sweater, I pulled out some cotton yarn that I had bought 2 years ago at my local Delaware shop which is now out of business. I didn't like how loose the knitted fabric was turning out and this sweater was put in the Unfinished Project area, or UFO bin. One of my favorite podcasters calls her bin Area 51. I love this name! I ripped back the sweater and I knit this yarn with a smaller needle. I love how the fabric is knitting up with the smaller needle. This pattern, Mondo Cable Cardi by CocoKnits, is knit from the neckline down.

I love the updated vintage feel to this cardigan. I will take a picture of the in progress sweater later when I have the sweater divided for the sleeves and body. Right now it looks like a long needle with a lot of knit stitches on it. My cotton yarn is Indigo by Berroco. It is a recycled cotton yarn. I love the old blue denim color.

So, that's my Saturday knitting. I plan on a little baking. A little cooking and then knitting my Mondo Cable Cardi. Catch you on the flip side!
